An early review based on range use, setup, and evaluation of the Nytrx XV3 as a multi-discipline sight for hunters and 3D shooters

**Editors Note: An earlier version of this story has been corrected to inform readers that HHA does offer custom pins, just not online. Those orders must be custom ordered via phone.**
The HHA Nytrx XV3 entered my setup with a specific promise: flexibility without compromise. After a full-range day of sighting it in and configuring the pins, it’s clear this sight is designed to cover multiple disciplines while still respecting how experienced archers actually shoot.
This is an early review based on initial range use. It reflects setup, sight picture, system design, and who the sight is best suited for—not long-term durability or season-validated performance.
Sight Picture: Vertical Pins, Open Housing, Zero Clutter
The first thing that stands out with the HHA Nytrx XV3 is the sight picture.
The pins are vertical, and the housing is large. That combination matters more than spec sheets suggest. The vertical pin stack keeps the sight picture clean, while the larger housing allows significant light to pass through. There’s no visual clutter competing for attention, even with three pins in play.
In fact, the housing lets in so much light that I usually turn the rheostat down. The result is a bright, controlled sight picture that remains usable across a wide range of conditions.
Coming from the HHA Tetra two-pin vertical mover, this is a marked improvement. The XV3 maintains clarity while adding flexibility, without sacrificing visibility at longer distances.

Why the HHA Nytrx XV3 Works as a True “Do-It-All” Sight
What separates the HHA Nytrx XV3 from most sights in this category isn’t simply the number of pins—it’s how those pins can be used.
With customizable pin gaps, gap shooters can cover a wide range of distances without dialing the sight. That alone makes it highly effective for hunting scenarios where time, movement, or shooting position don’t allow for dialing.
At the same time, the system doesn’t force that approach. You can still run the top pin as your mover and dial to a specific distance when time and conditions permit, while keeping the second and third pins as built-in backup references.
That dual-use design is the key. You’re not locked into one shooting method. The sight adapts to the situation instead of forcing the shooter to adjust to the equipment.
The scope housing is also readily exchanged. If you want to move to a single-pin setup for the 3D season, that option is available without replacing the entire sight. For shooters who move between hunting and 3D throughout the year, that flexibility matters.
This combination of customizable gaps, dial-when-needed precision, and modularity is why I view the XV3 as a legitimate do-it-all sight.
Setup and System Familiarity
If you’ve owned an HHA moving sight in the past few years, the setup process will feel immediately familiar.
The system is straightforward:
Using the top in sight at 20 yards
Move back to 60 yards and sight in with the top pin
Apply the correct sight tape based on the provided instructions
Set the second and third pins afterward
The entire system is predicated on accuracy at both 20 and 60 yards with the top pin. With that said, if you're newer or can’t shoot consistently at 60 yards for whatever reason, you’re going to struggle with any HHA mover.
That isn’t a flaw—it’s a requirement of precision. HHA moving sights reward consistency and repeatability. Newer archers may find the learning curve steeper, but experienced archers will feel right at home.

Pin Diameter: Where I’d Like to See Improvement
If there’s one area where the Nytrx XV3 still leaves room for improvement, it’s the selection of pin diameters.
Currently, pins are available in .010 and .019, but all pins must be the same size if ordered online. There is an option to order custom diameters but it must be done via phone orders only this time.
So for those that desire a bold, highly visible primary aiming reference while keeping the secondary pins finer and less visually intrusive at longer distances, you will need to call HHA to custom order your setup.
Withe ability to select individual pin diametersthis sight would is very close to flawless in my view.
Price and Brand Values
The HHA Nytrx XV3 retails for $469.99.
Beyond the hardware itself, I continue to shoot HHA because of what the company stands for. HHA USA has a long history of supporting the military, and that matters to me. Other brands make good sights, and I encourage shooters to try them and decide for themselves. But I’m an old-school buyer—brand loyal until given a reason not to be—and I haven’t been given one.
The XV3 reinforces that trust by expanding on what already worked, without unnecessary complexity or fixing something that wasn't already broken.

Where This Review Stands
This is an early review based on range use and setup. The sight is fully dialed, consistent, and performing as designed. Hunting season and long-term durability will ultimately determine the final verdict.
For now, the HHA Nytrx XV3 delivers something many sights promise, but few execute: real flexibility without clutter, compromise, or confusion. For hunters and 3D shooters looking for one sight that adapts to how they shoot, it earns serious consideration.
