What’s your hunting weapon of choice?

"My weapon of choice is a bow. When I first started hunting, I was self-taught and a rifle was the first thing I bought and used — but it only took a few months before a bow was in my hand, and I never looked back. I’m currently running a Mathews Lift 33."
What's your bow setup look like?
Mathews Lift 33
80lb Z Mods
Dialed Pruf Mag-3V .010
Rogue custom bowstring
QAD rest
Conquest Archery Control Freak stabilizer
TAC arrow: Victory Archery RIP XV
Hunting arrow: Victory Archery HLR Elite
What’s your favorite wild game to hunt?
"That’s always been a tough question for me. Turkey and deer hunting are my two favorites and honestly...it depends on what’s in season. But if I had to pick just one, it’d be deer hunting. In my state, I have a lot of opportunities to stay in the woods...thanks to a long season. I also love processing the game I harvest and sharing it with friends and family."
We follow you on various social media platforms and we see you use the handle “George’s Boy Outdoors.” Is there a story behind the name?
"My grandfather’s name is George Culbreth, Sr. He’s the reason I love the outdoors. He took me fishing regularly as a child and that love grew into what it is today. The name comes from a specific moment: we stopped at a bait shop before a fishing trip, and someone yelled out, 'George, is that your boy?' He replied, 'Yes he is,' with a smile — and that stuck with me. It seems like a simple moment, but knowing that someone you look up to, your hero, claims you and chooses to spend time with you — even skipping a family event we were both supposed to be at — showed me the love he had for me and his desire to share his passion. My channel is dedicated to him for that reason, and I’ll forever be grateful."

Earlier this year, you went live on TikTok with the OG…Cuz Strickland and MrJayCam of this platform. What was it like utilizing a platform like TikTok to communicate with such a veteran in the game?
"It was a highlight, to say the least. I never expected to have such a well-known guest on my platform, this early on. Cuz is such a wealth of knowledge...that after the live ended, I found myself wishing I’d asked more questions — or thought of more while we were talking. One of the most important things we discussed was making the outdoors accessible to everyone, and how that accessibility helps the whole outdoors community grow. From a hunting perspective, he explained how he uses a tube call in the turkey woods."

Did you learn anything in your conversation with him?
"He explained how he uses a tube call in the turkey woods, and since I started hunting, I’d never attempted to use one or realized how much more effective it could make me reaching out to distant birds. But after our conversation, I bought one and have been working on getting better with it.
"Another thing that stuck with me: he said he gets asked all the time, 'How can I become a better turkey hunter with limited time?' Most people expect him to talk specifics — what call to run, what to use, what camo to buy. But he said the best thing you can do is spend time finding areas that actually hold turkeys, and the turkeys will teach you the rest."
