Equalized Outdoors Launches Independent Outdoor Newsroom and Editorial Platform
Equalized Outdoors, a veteran-led outdoor media and production company, has officially launched its independent newsroom and editorial division, establishing itself as a credible and mission-driven source for conservation reporting, outdoor education, public-land updates, and veteran-centered storytelling.
Founded by U.S. Army veteran Justin Campbell, Equalized Outdoors blends journalism, documentary production, and community storytelling to elevate diverse and often underrepresented voices within the outdoor space. The newsroom launch formalizes the organization’s editorial infrastructure, including dedicated reporting categories, editorial standards, and a functional press channel designed to support transparent and accurate communication.
“Our goal is straightforward: provide accurate reporting, amplify real stories, and give a voice to individuals who have been historically overlooked in the outdoor world,” said Campbell, Editor-in-Chief of Equalized Outdoors. “This newsroom exists to serve new hunters, veterans, urban communities, and anyone seeking accessible, trustworthy information about conservation, culture, and the outdoors.”
The Equalized Outdoors Newsroom will feature:
Hard News and Conservation Reporting: Coverage of regulations, wildlife agency decisions, season changes, and public-land developments.
The Brief: Fast-turn alerts that help hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts stay informed about time-sensitive opportunities and regulatory shifts.
Editorial and Op-Ed Columns: Opinion-driven perspectives on outdoor culture, ethics, representation, and lived experience, including the platform’s flagship column, Sound Off Sundays.
Features and Educational Stories: Longform articles, species breakdowns, field education, and community-based narratives.
Veteran-Focused Coverage: Reporting and essays centered on the military community’s relationship with the outdoors, post-service identity, and the role of nature in healing, discipline, and purpose.
Community Reporting: Profiles and collaborative stories featuring organizations such as Kinfolk, Hunters of Color, Outdoors in Color, and other groups working to expand representation and access in the outdoor community.
In addition to journalism, Equalized Outdoors will continue producing films, photography, branded content, and premium outdoor apparel. The newsroom maintains a clear separation between editorial content and company announcements, which are now housed in a dedicated Press Releases category to ensure transparency and adherence to professional standards.
“Our community deserves a reliable source they can trust,” Campbell said. “Equalized Outdoors will cover the issues that matter — conservation, culture, accountability, and the stories that define who we are outdoors.”
