I enjoy deer hunting because there are so many factors that have to go right in order for you to be successful. You must scout, make time to seed food plots, choose correct trails to place trail cameras on, and most importantly hang up stands for the best chance at success.

Then, on a cold February day on the Appomattox River, it all came together. I had begun targeting larger bass on my own, armed with my new knowledge, and that was the day I caught what is still my PB Largemouth. I didn’t have a scale, but the picture tells the tale. A black-and-blue football jig with a black-and-blue craw provided me with a lifelong memory. Nothing could possibly top that.

Fishing is as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. A boat, while nice to have, also isn’t a requirement. Some of the best anglers that I know have never owned one. Some boats have motors and electronics that cost more than most cars, yet an angler in a kayak without electronics can catch them just the same, and sometimes better.
