Equalized Outdoors Approach to Hunting Gear | The Why Behind the Gear
Our latest video takes you inside our hunting pack. Here, we explain the standards behind our gear coverage and the relationships that help support Equalized Outdoors.
Equalized Outdoors Newsroom | October 2026

The time of year most of us reading this article dream about for about eight months is finally here. Some of you may have even connected on a buck you watched since you found out it survived last season. For others, work, family responsibilities, or lack of access to a hunting spot has kept you grounded, and you’re still anxiously awaiting your first sit of the year.
Here at Equalized Outdoors, as we rolled into the season, we created a series of saddle-hunting videos for the average hunter, especially those of us on the larger side, like this author. Traditional coverage tends to focus on the outliers in the woods, and we want to plug at least a few of those holes.
That said, we’ve shown you how we climb the tree, how we hang our gear in said tree, and now we finally finished it off with how to get said gear to said tree. Education is key to fulfilling our mission of leveling the playing field. Our latest YouTube release covers the hunting gear that we , at Equalized Outdoors, actually use in the field.
We cover what we carry it in, the calls we use for deer hunting, bug protection, our kill kit contents, and much more.
One of the many things that set us apart from other outlets is that we pay for most of the gear we feature, so we can be fully transparent. A few exceptions exist, but rest assured: any company we partner with understands we must be 100% honest with our audience, regardless of the outcome.
Even though we are in the media, we don’t test gear just for content. All gear that we evaluate is used by us in the field and shown on our YouTube channel with integrity and honesty. It also means that, for the most part, our gear solves a problem. It can be tempting to run out and buy the latest and greatest of everything, but you don’t have to.
How to Get The Hunting Gear Used at Equalized Outdoors
However, if you are considering a piece of hunting, or other, gear that we have covered, we would appreciate it if you purchased it from one of our partners. This costs you nothing extra as the consumer, and it helps us continue to bring you quality content by way of a small commission.
You can find the list of gear that we use by visiting the gear page and purchasing from the provided Amazon affiliate links. If the link is direct to the manufacturer, we don’t earn any commission at all, but we would appreciate it if you told them who sent you.

If you happen to need a saddle head over to Custom Gear Modifications (CGM) and use promo code EQOD2026 at checkout to save 10 percent on your order. We use CGM because they provide a premium product at an affordable price. The gear flat-out performs, and Jerry and his team provide awesome customer service.
Plus, it’s hard to beat something custom-made to your body for comfort. They were also among the first to believe in us here at Equalized Outdoors and our mission, and that loyalty still shows up within our organization.

When you get tired of carrying your bow, and we all know carrying your bow sucks, head over and see my good friends from The Bowhitch. Promo code EQOD30 saves you thirty percent at checkout. Armando is an awesome person, and I’m glad to call him a friend. Their innovation has solved a few problems, which is why we use them.
Being able to use my hands to glass, or do whatever, and still carry my bow is priceless. Not only that; they make a solution that lets me carry my bow, tripod, and camera hands-free, all with a quick-release method. Yet your equipment stays attached and secure no matter what.
Equalized Outdoors Has You Covered No Matter the Season
And last but certainly not least, if you happen to see us with a turkey call, it’s none other than a Black Lightning Custom Call. Tell Mr. Stanley that Equalized Outdoors sent ya.
